Hand Writing
Handwriting/ / CC BY-NC-SA 2.0
While at the School on Friday, I made a comment to the Technology teacher about how some of the students can type faster than they can write. She made a comment about give it some time and nobody will write anything done anymore. This comment stuck with me all day, are we really moving towards a society that does write anything down? I know personally I have lost my ability to write in cursive in a fast and correct manner. While taking notes I can type faster then I can write as well. So what does this mean for society? Will we eventually lose writing and is this a good thing?

I was thinking the same thing! When books became available online and you could read a whole text book or novel on the the computer I started to worry. I understand that our culture is shifting towards reading and writing on the computer because it is quick and easy but in all actuality we are losing the culture of reading and writing. I think it's a little sad... I guess we will just have to see.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we will lose writing because writing is still an essential part of schooling and other areas of business. On your comment about typing.. I think you (meaning people) are able to type faster than you can write just because of how a computer works and how your fingures move across a keyboard.
ReplyDeleteWho knows what will be invented in the future, anything is possible these days. However, I hope writing is still there, along with paper back books.
Megan, Sarah, and Alexa,
ReplyDeleteYou all have very insightful opinions regarding the matter of handwriting. I agree with all of you. I think writing is something that can never be fully non-existent. We will still need signatures and what not. Computers may be becoming more useful in other areas of life, but as long as we stress the importance of writing in our classrooms, there is no need to worry.
Cheers,
Kaitlyn
